The Vestry at St. James would like your involvement in the Commissions (formerly known as committees) of the church. We would like to have the commissions doing the work of the church to make it our church. There is a place for everyone on one or more of the following commissions. Please look them over and visit with the Vestry member associated with that commission.
U Building and Grounds: Assist with church cleanup work unrelated to sexton’s job, upkeep and assessing necessary maintenance and improvements, recycling.
U Christian Formation: Christian Education of all ages. Regular Sunday education, Lenten series, and maintenance of library.
U Evangelism: Evangelism, spreading the message, strategies for bringing new members to the church, communicating St. James’ mission, greeter team and follow-up.
U Fellowship: Planning and organizing church events, coffee hour, fundraisers. Overseeing the newsletter and Website developments and maintenance.
U Outreach: Communicating St. James’ mission through service in our community and throughout the world. Assisting in determining contributions to organizations such as UTO, Food Shelf, Matthew House, Food for the Poor, etc.
U Worship: Anything that affects the worship experience (music, liturgy, bulletins) is the function of this committee. They work with the rector, priest in charge, or supply clergy, although the vestry has final authority in the absence of a Rector.
